6. Chocolate and Comfort Food
Food is always a necessity with a breakup. Chocolate, candy, junk food, it all helps. Don’t be afraid to take a drive to Walgreens and splurge on some candy.
5. Activities, Hobbies, Or Anything to Get Out of the House
Get out of the house! When you sit alone on the couch your thoughts will drift to your breakup and you will want to cry even more. Go to your dance class, see a horror movie, try bowling. When you keep your mind busy, you start to think less of the situation.
4. Family and Friends
Not everyone likes to share their feelings or relationship issues. But having the comfort of a close parent, best friend, or sibling can be a big help. It is always nice to have a shoulder to cry on or someone to give you a nudge in the shoulder saying “Hey, everything will be okay.”
3. Stay Off Social Media
This is tough, I know. You will have the urge to check up on your ex and see who that new cute girl or guy is that they are tweeting at, or who is writing on their Facebook page. But when you keep looking at their social media, it just makes you feel even worse. The best way to get over someone, is to cut them out of your life. Stop checking what is going on in your ex’s life, and just focus on yours. The less you see or hear about them, the better.
2. Don’t Be Afraid To Cry
Sometimes you just have to let it all out. It feels a lot better to let your tears pour out of you than to hold them all in. Cry as much as you need to and soon enough, you will be tired of crying over the same person, or feeling broken down, and you will find that you are sick of being sad and that it is time to feel some happiness.
1. Time
“Time heals everything.” It is a saying I am sure many of us have heard, but it is a statement that is actually very true. At the beginning of a breakup, it may feel as if you will never get over your relationship, but time changes everything. You were once okay before you started your relationship, and you will be okay sometime after it. Just give it time.
